The Dhikala, Lohachaur and Sonanadi Tourism Zones are closed for day visits from 16th June to 14th November. The main reason for closure of the Park during the rest of the year is that during the monsoons most of the roads get washed away. Repair work starts after the rains end and it is only by November that roads are back to motorable condition. Dhikala Tourism Zone remains closed during the monsoons.
From 1st June to 15th June, these ecotourism zones are on standby mode. Advance reservations are not done during this time and these zones can be shut down by the Director, Corbett Tiger Reserve at short notice on considerations of visitor safety due to weather conditions.
Canter safari in the only one option to visit the Dhikala region of the Jim Corbett National Park if you are staying in outside of the Park. Dhikala Canter safari is a common safari in that 16 people can accommodate in a time, it is a shared safari, Canter is like a mini Bus or you can say a mini RTV bus. Canter safari goes to Dhikala zone which is the middle part of Corbett Tiger Reserve or Jim Corbett National Park and well known for its density and beauty. Dhikala canter safari is the best option to visit Dhikala zone if you do not have a permit of night stay over there.
